IEEE Workshop User-Centered Design of Pervasive Healthcare Applications, March, 22, 2010 Munich, Deadline: Janurary, 10, 2010

22. März 2010, München

IEEE Workshop User-Centered Design of Pervasive Healthcare Applications

http://www.pervasivehealth.humtec.rwth-aachen.de/

Users of pervasive healthcare systems will be increasingly characterized by diversity. Relying only on highly experienced and technology-prone user groups, which might have been typical users in the last decades, is not sufficient anymore. Instead, e.g. elderly users, or users with a completely different domain knowledge, will have to use the systems.

While current research focuses mainly on technological and/or medical aspects, there is a major need to understand in which way physical, emotional and cognitive abilities, caused by individual learning histories and health states, may impact the usage and acceptance of these systems. Hence, not only aspects of technical feasibility, but also acceptance and usability issues of pervasive healthcare applications have to be carefully considered in order to fully exploit the potential of future healthcare applications.

This requires an integrative and multidisciplinary approach, which combines engineering AND medical knowledge combining theoretical and methodological contributions of the humanities.

Intended Audience

The workshop aims to bring together researchers from different disciplines to discuss the interrelation of medical, environmental, technical, psychological and social factors and their consequences for the design, use and acceptance of pervasive healthcare systems.

USAB 2009 - 5.

https://www.ocg.at/konferenzen/HCI/registration.php

Hochaktuelle Themen umfassen u.a. Ambient Assisted Living (AAL), Smart Home und Health, aber auch Gender, Emotion und Kognition.

Den Hauptvortrag hält Frau Professorin Yvonne ROGERS vom Pervasive Interaction Lab, Computing Department der Open University (UK) mit dem Titel "The Changing Face of Human-Computer Interaction in the Age of Ubiquitous Computing". Als Autorin von "Being Human: HCI in the Year 2020" gibt Sie Ausblick auf Neue Trends im Bereich Mensch und Computer.

Das Programm ist online verfügbar unter:
http://usab.icchp.org/?q=node/5
